A middle-aged woman on Sunday morning in
Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, dozed off while
driving and knocked-down a streetlight pole.

This caused her car to somersault several times.
A News Agency of Nigeria correspondent who
witnessed the incident reports that the accident
occurred at about 4am at the Fati Lami Abubakar
Park junction of Ezza Road, Abakaliki.

.
Confirming the incident, Arit Godwin-Bassey, the
Ebonyi State Police Command’s Officer-in-Charge of
Traffic, told NAN that her officers evacuated the
woman to a nearby hospital.
Godwin-Bassey said: “The victim was not seriously
hurt and is responding to treatment.
“We took her to the Federal Teaching Hospital,
Abakaliki where she works as a medical doctor.

while driving after rushing home from work to
breastfeed her new-born baby.
“I urge motorists, especially women, not to drive at
night or whenever visibility is poor.”

told NAN that the victim was on top speed when the
accident occurred.

when the woman sped past, only for me to see that
her car smashed a pole and somersaulted.”

several telephone calls put across to him.
