Ekiti Group writes IG Fayose wants to kill Aluko

Group Urges Arase To Protect Aluko Over Alleged
Threat To Life

A socio-political group within the People’s Democratic
Party (PDP) in
Ekiti State, Ekiti Reformer Movement, has called on
the Inspector
General of Police, Solomon Arase, to ensure
protection for the party
State Secretary, Dr Tope Aluko, over allegation of
fake security men
posing as policemen to arrest the party scribe on the
order of the
police authorities.

In a statement by its spokesman, Idowu Olaleye, the
group said
Aluko’s
allegation was real, as fake policemen actually
stormed Channels
office to arrest the party leader on the purported
order of the
Inspector General of Police while he was on a live
programme on
Sunday.

The group urged Fayose to answer posers on how he
got INEC soft copies
that he said he printed to win his election and tell
Nigerians the
election results he said he collated in Efon-Alaaye
two days to the
governorship election as he himself revealed in the
Sagir Koli tape
instead of sending attackers against his opponents.

The group added that it once raised the alarm that
Fayose allegedly
kept a killers squad, noting that the visit of the
strange men to
arrest Aluko was a confirmation of its alarm,
particularly when the
police authorities denied knowledge of any order to
arrest Aluko
inside the Channels studio.

“Fayose is following the trend during his campaigns
when he raised
killers squad in search of opposition members, even
within his own
party, for attack.

“He did it to APC lawmakers when men in hoods in
umarked black jeeps
visited their homes and delivered letters purportedly
inviting them by
the police. But upon seeking to confirm the invitation
by the
lawmakers, the then Commissioner of Police, Taiwo
Lakanu, said he
never authorised any invitation,” he explained.

Olaleye urged Arase to order transfer of the
policemen working for the
governor to attack opponents, saying their activities
since Fayose’s
first term had left Ekiti State in the state of fear.

“Some policemen that helped Fayose during his first
term to raise a
killers squad and were later posted out of Ekiti State
after the
President Olusegun Obasanjo’s security panel on
politically-motivated
killings in Ekiti State indicted them have been
reposted to Ekiti
State on Fayose’s special request approved by former
Inspector General
of Police.

“Today, some of the indicted policemen, including
Gbenga Joseph and
Usman Shaba, are back in Fayose’s service helping
him to attack
opponents as seen during the last governorship and
parliamentary
elections.

“Gbenga Timothy Joseph, a mobile police officer that
was recently
promoted by the police, is still working for Fayose,
even though his
new rank should have moved him from functioning
as a bodyguard.

“This mobile police officer that should always appear
in his uniform
follows Fayose everywhere he goes in mufti in order
to hide his
identity,” he explained.
The group also raised the alarm over alleged attempt
to tamper with
Aluko’s records at his former place of work at the
Ekiti State
University, saying the motive was to doctor the
former lecturer’s file
to incriminate him for prosecution.

He counselled the Chairman of the University
Governing Council, Prince
Dayo Adeyeye, to stay clear of attempt to criminally
tamper with
Aluko’s records, saying the legal consequences of
such illegal action
would be grave.

Calling on the police to protect Aluko’s properties
allegedly targeted
for attacks by Fayose’s men, Olaleye urged Arase to
investigate

Fayose’s security aides over their alleged attack on
the opposition
and the latest attempt to illegally attack Aluko in
Lagos and his
properties in Ekiti State.
