Currently part of the Most Sought After musicians in
Nigeria, Oritsefemi’s rise to fame is a story filled with
hopes, disappointments, failures, ups and downs and
above all Success.

Early Life
.
Born Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele, as the third child of
his mother. Oritsefemi was born on the 5th of
January 1985 and was raised in a polygamous family
of 25 in Ajegunle.
He hails from the Itsekiri tribe of North Warri, Delta
State. He briefly attended Mayday Secondary School
in Ikoyi and switched to Tolu Primary School in
Ajegunle due to his parents not being able to
maintain the high cost of schooling in the affluent
neighborhood of Ikoyi.
He completed his elementary education at Army
Children School. He attained his secondary school
certificate from Randle Secondary School and applied
to study law at Delta State University in Abraka, but
dropped out to concentrate on his music career.

Musical Career
.
Oritsefemi started off professionally as lead vocalist
of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ajegunle,
Lagos where he also played bass guitar. He revealed
his greatest opportunity musically was when Shaba
Ranks, Keppy Ton and others came to establish a
Ragga Dub School in Ajegunle. They were brought
there by the late Johnny Nap.

Note: It was where Daddy Showkey, Daddy Fresh,
Father U-turn, Baba Fryo and a lot of other stars had
their breakthrough.
His own genre of music is called Reality or
Conscience Music, he terms it a kind of music that
touches or arouses the feeling of the people.
He started out with a duo group (Oritse Femi &
Chibudo) called Junglist with two albums “BOYS DEY
BINU and MONEY NA TIME’.

He then went solo in 2006 and released an album,
Elewon / Flog Politicians, which means “Chase them”.
That was when he started singing about the flopped
politicians and the need to chase them away. It was
released in 2007/08 during the elections and turned
out to be a hit.

His third solo album was Unfadeables. Oritsefemi
says he was motivated to release this album because
of the wickedness prevalent in the world. One of the
hit tracks that made waves on radio and TV was
“Mercy of the Lord”.
He made his first million which was Five million naira
in 2008, and it was given to him by a marketer to
work on his album.

Personal Life
.
Oritsefemi is blessed with two daughters whom he
had at a young age back in the days of Ajegunle.
He also has a girlfriend called Blessing whom he says
he plans on marrying.

Awards And Achievements
.
He won the Best Street-Hop Artiste 2014 at the
Headies and was nominated for the best Vocal
Perfomance for his hit song Doube Wahala.
Oritsefemi walked away with the Most Popular Song
of the Year 2014 for his Jam ‘Double Wahala’ at the
City People Entertainment Award and the video of
the song also got nominated for Video of the Year
and Hottest single of the year.
He also went home with the Indigenous Artist of the
Year 2014 courtesy Nigeria Entertainment Awards
2014.
