A young bride died in a head-on car crash as she drove to meet her groom on her wedding day. 

23-year-old Guzel Zakirova’s car was involved in the collision in the region of Bashkortostan in Russia, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

She had already had her hair done for the ceremony and was driving to meet her fiance Ilnar Shafikov when her Lana crashed into a Nissan, which was overtaking another car on a busy road. Miss Zakirova’s female passenger was badly injured and hospitalized along with the two people inside the Nissan. She was the only one who died. 

Instead of her wedding, relatives arranged a funeral and her 26-year-old fiancé was reportedly the last person to leave the cemetery.

The groom’s mother Alfiya Shafikova said: “They had such a bright, strong love. He was madly in love with her. He would call her after waking up in the morning, and in the evening when he was back home from work. He had her photos on his phone, on his computer. I don’t know how will he live now.”
