An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court, on Monday remanded 33-year-old Emmanuel Imole in prison custody for allegedly pouring hot soup on a police officer.

The police prosecutor, Sgt.Bankole Olasunkanmi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 13 at about 5.30 pm at Ilawe Road, Ado-Ekiti.

He said that the accused unlawfully poured hot soup on a police officer attached to Iyin police station while performing his lawful duty.

Olasunkanmi said the accused poured the hot soup on the policeman’s face and uniform and attempted to collect his rifle.

The assault took place at a Canteen in the state.

Policemen were said to be on surveillance in the area and Emmanuel was ordered to leave the vicinity to allow them carry out their operation. Akingbade was said to have dashed to the canteen to eat, about 30 minutes later, only for Emmanuel to trace him there and allegedly carried out the attack

He said that the offence contravened Section 356(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Vol.1, Laws of Ekiti state 2012.

He requested for adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
