The Kaduna State Government on Thursday

suspended the village head of Goma in Gimi District
of Sanga Local Government Area, Ibrahim Danladi.

The state government said the traditional ruler was
involved in drug-related offence.
Danladi was arrested by the National Drug Law
Enforcement Agency.

The action was contained in a statement issued by
Samuel Aruwan, the Special Assistant to Governor
Ahmed El-Rufa’i on Media and Publicity.
Aruwan stated that the suspension was a
demonstration of government’s disdain for illicit
drugs.

He noted: “On Jan. 20, 2016, the NDLEA arrested
Ibrahim Danladi, the village head of Goma in Gimi
District of Sanga Local Government Area in
possession of a 1.5-kg of marijuana.

“Danladi has admitted ownership of the illegal drug
and the NDLEA will be charging him to court as soon
as it concludes investigation.

“The NDLEA subsequently notified the Kaduna State
Security Council about the arrest of the traditional
ruler and after deliberating on the matter, the
Council recommended his suspension from office,
pending the conclusion of investigations and possible
trial.”

The special assistant said the state government
accepted the Council’s recommendation and
promptly suspended the local chief.
